Three New Wines Added to By The Glass Menu

We recently announced big changes to the Wine by the Glass program here at Bentley’s Grill. Instead of featuring just one Oregon Pinot Noir we will now be featuring at least two; as well as at least two stunning white wines and at least three full bodied, dark fruited reds from around the Northwest.

Three new wines to try on have been added to the Wine by the Glass Menu this week.

The first one is a new release from Bergström Wines, their 2008 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve. The wine is a blend of the barrels that the winemaker feels best represent the vintage and not a specific vineyard. The wine has ample black cherry and blackberry fruit flavors with baking spice, forest floor and black licorice nuance on the nose. Full bodied on the palate finishing with moderate tannins and some freshness from the acidity. This wine would match perfectly with our Filet Mignon and make for a decadent dinner.

The second wine is the Grochau Cellars 2007 Upper Five Vineyard Rogue Valley Tempranillo. The Tempranillo grape is native to Spain however it has found a home in southern Oregon, this organically farmed vineyard in particular, is well suited to the varietal. This wine exhibits dark cherry, boysenberry, dried herbs and grilled meat aromas. Full bodied with moderate tannins and a lingering finish.

The last wine is very limited and will only be poured for two weeks. It is the Seven Hills Winery 2007 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Blend. This wine is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The wine is plush with ripe plum and black fruits; some black pepper, dried herb and sweet baking spice aromas come through with aeration. This wine is fairly well structured so it is not recommended for drinking on its own but should be paired with one of Chef Derek’s more sturdy dishes.

I hope you are looking forward to trying one of these new wines. Cheers!
