When we launched our new menu a couple of months ago, we knew it would get some attention, but we never imagined how much the Salem, Oregon restaurant community would embrace the bold changes we made to our food and drink menu! It means more to us than you could ever know!
We have been humbled & delighted with beautifully written letters, emails, Facebook posts and online reviews from our happy guests. Here are just a few examples of our latest “fan-mail” like this letter sent to our General Manager a couple of weeks ago.
We wanted to take a moment to tell you about our experience at Bentley’s last night. We originally had made reservations for eleven to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday and our youngest granddaughter’s 21st birthday. About a week prior, the reservation went to 15, and then as we arrived at the restaurant, surprise additional guests went to 17, and then one more made the final total 18.
Your staff was wonderfully accommodating, they just adjusted our seating area as more guests arrived. Once we were all seated our waiter, Jacob, introduced himself and worked on taking our drink orders. He was very organized and knowledgeable.
I was the last to place my dinner order because I had the hardest time choosing what I wanted because all the choices looked so good. Jacob just took everything in stride. We joked with him about “airline” chicken – we figured it must be “Wings”. He was delightful! I spoke with every guest. They all agreed that their dinner was delicious, the drinks were perfect and those who had room for dessert were very happy with their selections.
In closing, we just wanted to let you know how extremely happy we were with our choice of Bentley’s for our special celebration and with the service and your staff. It was an excellent evening. Thank you so much!

Bentley’s just climbed to the top of our favorite places to dine in Salem!
Have you visited since they launched their new menu? It is a whole new level of fresh, high-quality food. You will not be disappointed!
Our server greeted our party of four and encouraged us to take a look at the daily specials. I’d highly recommend going this route. My husband had the short ribs and I opted for the mahi-mahi with Dungeness crab ravioli; the other couple had salmon and chicken. These dishes were plated beautifully! And the flavors were top-notch! You could tell that the chef and kitchen staff take pride in not only cooking high-quality food, but in plating and serving dishes that make you say “wow!”
We even indulged in the chocolate marquis flourless cake and the apple torte for dessert. They were heavenly! I hope Bentley’s considers adding coffee drinks, liqueurs, and ports to pair with the desserts.
Without a doubt, Bentley’s is a five-star spot. We can’t wait to return to enjoy some handcrafted cocktails and savor some of the wood fired pizza I hear has been refined and perfected. Cheers! – Meg B
Fortunately for this guest, we actually have a number of coffee drinks, liqueurs, and other after-dinner drinks to pair with dessert. We look forward to having her back so she can try some!

Met a long term friend for lunch. We stayed two hours after delicious food, and excellent service. Having Hans as the new Executive Chef has been an excellent choice, and as he tries new menus he will settle on the best of the best as he has been running restaurants in Salem for many years. Salem is so fortunate to have the Grand Hotel and Salem Convention Center with such an outstanding restaurant in our downtown.
