We’re big fans of sustainability. Operating as a sustainable restaurant has been a guiding principal of Bentley’s Grill from the very first moment we opened our doors 11 years ago. In fact, we were the first restaurant to become EarthWISE certified in Marion County! We could devote an entire post to talking about our commitment to sourcing local foods, recycling, composting, our obsession with being “waste free” (and we did), but in this post, we want to talk about wine.
Ecological Wines are a growing trend among wine connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike. Simply put, they are wines that are made with the bare minimum of intervention, such as chemicals or pesticides in the vineyard. Typically these wines are unfiltered, which means they tend to have a cloudy appearance brought on by the presence of sediment.
Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Since the wine goes through little “interference,” many claim that the flavors are stronger and purer. As you can imagine, these wines are growing in popularity among customers looking for the healthiest possible alternative for their meals.
Several of our local Willamette Valley vineyards are producing delectable Ecological Wines to try! Just take a look at our evolving wine list. Better yet, stop in and ask our Wine Steward, Mark Jacklich, for his recommendations!
Of course, if you’re looking for more traditional white, you can always find the very best in reds and whites at Bentley’s Grill. We don’t mean to brag, but our extensive Oregon Wine list and our commitment to celebrating and promoting local wineries have been recognized by organizations like Wine Spectator, Oregon Wine Press, and The Oregon Wine Board to name a few. Come join us for a tasting and perhaps soon we’ll be pouring you a glass of Ecological Wine to go with your meal.
