Our wine sommelier, Brian Kemmerle regularly shares his insight and expertise with guests to help them select the perfect wine to compliment the flavors in Chef Derek Ridgway’s dishes. Brian was recently praised by the Oregon Wine Press for his commitment to feature and promote local Oregon and regional wines. Here are his latest additions to our Wine by the Glass menu!
Two new red wines to share with the Bentley’s Grill customers this week both recently honored by Wine Spectator as two of the most exciting wines released in 2010.
The first wine is the 2007 Waterbrook Merlot Reserve. The wine has blueberry, plum and raspberry fruit with hints of roasted red pepper and clove spice. The flavors are very pure and complex. The wine finishes with balanced tannins that are well integrated into the wine. I paired it with the menu special Braised Short Ribs served with blue cheese polenta and grilled asparagus. It would also go nicely with the regular menu Filet Mignon served with a mushroom sauce.
The second wine comes from Tamarack Cellars, it’s their 2008 Firehouse Red Blend. Composed of eight different red wine grape varieties this wine is plump with blackcurrant and candied plum fruits, has a nice full bodied texture and a soft fruity finish with just enough acidity to balance the fruit flavors. Try this one with the Flat Iron Steak served with the Ancho Chili Sauce.
The wines will run on the menu until the distributors run out of the current vintage so please come on by and give them a try.
