Oregon Grape Stomp Champs Ready to Defend Their Title at Willamette Valley Vineyards
The dynamic duo is back and ready to defend their their title…..and we are not talking about 3 time Olympic Beach Volleyball Champs Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings.
We mean our very own 2011 Grape Stomp at Willamette Valley Vineyards Champs Kristi Reed and Soraida Cross!
Last year Kristi Reed, Soraida Cross, Tamy Perkins and Michelle DeWitt made us proud when they represented Team Salem Block under the name “Bentley’s Grill Girls”. In a very close match, Kristi and Soraida pulled out a win and were sent to compete in the World Grape Stomping Championship in Santa Rosa, California!
The team will be back to defend their title at the 22nd Annual Oregon Grape Stomp Competition at Willamette Valley Vineyards September 22-23, 2012. Teams of two (one stomper & one swabber) compete in this highly competitive event. The “Stomper”stands in a barrel full of grapes, and squishes out the juice using only feet while the “Swabber” stands below the barrel and keeps the juice flowing into the jug, pulling grape skins away from the screen, and pushing juice toward the pipe.
The 2012 Oregon Grape Stomp Championship & Harvest Celebration will be at Willamette Valley Vineyards September 22-23, 2012 from 11:00am – 6:00pm. For details visit www.wvv.com/whatsnew
